Our methodology

 

Creative Bridges for Language Learning methodology: “Effective early language program” It presents a whole language platform through Storytelling, drama, music, dance, songs, makes believe and art, designed to aid in the implementation or improvement of a second language learning program. 

Provides tools to the educators to design fun and effective ESL, Bilingual and Dual education pre-K-3rd programs that reflects and values students’ culture(s)

Such program uses a web curriculum planning format, Language instruction is integrated within the curriculum: High/Scope, Bank Street, The creative Curriculum, Curiosity Corner, and Tool of the min project educational approach.

The activities and the target language are interrelated using the students' prior knowledge and personal experience allowing them to make connections, tie new information to existing knowledge.

This program integrates different intelligence types and learning styles, is child centered rather than teacher centered.

 When students have multiple choices in ways to demonstrate their knowledge, the evidence of their learning is more accurate therefore, they became lifelong learners.

 

Participant will: 

·         Understand the philosophy behind ELL, bilingual and dual language education

·         Develop appropriate instructional strategies that meet the diverse needs of the students in their classrooms

·          Have the opportunity, to reenergize themselves, gain experiences, reinforce and develop tools to create their own programs

·         Understand that without comprehensible input, second language learning can be difficult

·         Recognize that all children are cognitively, linguistically, and emotionally connected to the language and culture of their home

·         Understand the process of language acquisition and be able to create a preschool environment that enhances oral language.

·         Develop skills to incorporate a variety of language concepts into topics that are fun, interesting, and worthy of study.

·         Integrate language, content, creativity, and culture into activities that give students a reason to use the language.

·         What materials do teachers need to support the activities?

 

 

Teacher/students workshop

 

 1.      We provide 40 minutes of teacher/student interaction.  10 minutes a day of coaching each teacher, and 30 minutes a day of models in each class with their own students of our methodology

·          The students will be immersing in the language through dance, music, make believe, arts and storytelling.

·         Participant teachers will have the opportunity to participate as students and observe how we implement our teaching techniques with their own students. Through careful modeling and coaching, teachers will have the chance to reenergize themselves, gain experiences, reinforce and develop tools to create their own programs.

 

2.       Materials to support the activities and to enrich the Program: CD with music, Audio tapes, DVD with stories, Power point presentation, rhymes, stories, math games, cards, resources, related articles etc.
